The IOGCC, in collaboration with our host state of North Dakota, is proud to offer a variety of special events for our conference attendees to enjoy while in Medora.

About Special Events:

Golf Event at Bully Pulpit 

“Ranked one of America's Top 100 Public Golf Courses - Bully Pulpit is chiseled right out of the North Dakota Badlands in a site unlike any in the world. A round here is one you won't soon forget.”

Cost: $102, plus taxes and fees, for 18 holes with a golf cart.

Available: On Sunday, August 25, we have reserved an IOGCC block of six tee times starting at 8:30 a.m. MT. To reserve a tee time in the block, call the course at (701) 623-4655. If you don’t have a foursome, contact Ron Ness at ronness@ndoil.org.

Fossil Dig at Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation Site

Join us and the North Dakota Geological Survey Paleontology Department for a unique opportunity to explore for fossil plants, animals and maybe even dinosaurs! https://www.dmr.nd.gov/ndfossil/digs/

This event requires a minimum of 3 participants with a maximum of 15 each day. Participants will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis. Hike to Petrified Forest at Theodore Roosevelt National Park

Technical Tour of the Bakken

"From drilling to production to transportation - North Dakota, the #2 oil producer in the nation, is ready for you to experience how it all happens. This tour will include stops at an active drilling rig, the Belfield Gas Plant, as well as the Fryburg Rail Terminal."

"Evening in Medora" Pitchfork Steak Fondue 

 “The nationally acclaimed, including Food Network “Bestof” favorite, Pitchfork Steak Fondue is a traveler's delight. Every evening our chefs load steaks onto pitchforks and fondue them western style. This is the perfect dining experience pairing for the Medora Musical! As you chow down, you'll be serenaded with western melodies performed live by The Coal Diggers Band from the Medora Musical. Savor your steak as you overlook the picturesque Badlands from atop a bluff at the Tjaden Terrace. 

Your steak comes with fresh fruit, salad, coleslaw, vegetables, baked beans, garlic toast, baked potatoes, brownies, cinnamon-sugar donuts, lemonade and coffee. If you want a beer or glass of wine with your steak, we have you covered at the Tjaden Terrace Bar!

Vegetarians are recommended to purchase "Just the Fixin's" Pitchfork Steak Fondue meal.”

"Evening in Medora" Musical: The Greatest Show in the West 

“Performed live and outside, under the Badlands sky in the 2,900-seat Burning Hills Amphitheatre, the show is dedicated to President Theodore Roosevelt's time in the Badlands and to the Spirit of the Old West. 

You'll be treated to high-energy music by the Burning Hills Singers and our LIVE band, The Coal Diggers. Plus, you'll enjoy guest variety acts from around the world, LIVE horses on stage, a family-friendly humor, an exciting "charge up San Juan Hill", fireworks and more.”
