IOGCC Recognizes Environmental Efforts By Industry
The Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission (IOGCC) presented its prestigious Chairman’s Stewardship Award to four oil and gas related projects that demonstrate exemplary efforts. Winners received their award during the general session at the IOGCC Annual Meeting, Nov. 17, 2008, in Santa Fe, NM.
The IOGCC, the leading authority on state regulatory programs, works to ensure domestic resources can be conserved and maximized in harmony with the environment. The annual Chairman’s Stewardship Awards recognize oil and natural gas organizations that have exceeded their regular duties to protect the environment.
Nominations were accepted in four different categories: Large Company, Small Company, Environmental Partnership and Energy Education.
Receiving the award this year for large company is Devon Energy Corporation for their Barnett Shale Water Conservation Initiatives project.
Receiving the award for small company is Pioneer Natural Resources Alaska, Inc. for their Oooguruk Development Project.
Environmental Partnership was awarded to the Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC) Plains CO2 for their Plains CO2 Reduction (PCOR) Partnership, Practical, and Environmentally Sound CO2 Sequestration.
The award for Energy Education was awarded to: Coalbed Natural Gas Alliance. The Alliance has successfully created a mass media climate of cooperation between landowners and operators by going outside the traditional “pedestrian” outreach efforts.
IOGCC would like to thank all who entered the 2008 Chairman’s Stewardship Awards for their continued efforts as environmental stewards.
The IOGCC is a multi-state government agency that promotes the conservation and efficient recovery of domestic oil and natural gas resources while protecting health, safety, and the environment. Established by the charter member states’ governors in 1935, it is the oldest, largest and most effective interstate compact in the nation.
