The IOGCC was founded to promote the safe recovery of domestic oil and natural gas resources while protecting the environment and has a long history of conducting research, collecting and synthesizing data, reviewing data and comparing it to benchmarks, and forming and communicating research findings and recommendations. IOGCC member states continue to regulate the development and production of oil and natural gas safely and responsibly. Expanding our country’s resources ensures our national security and preserves our quality of life. IOGCC/Groundwork initiatives are made possible in large part by grants from the United States Department of Energy National Energy Technology Laboratory and the United States Environmental Protection Agency.

The IOGCC continues to serve its 30 member and 8 associate member states through the application, development, and implementation of grants and special projects designed to meet the unique needs of individual states and regions.Projects are designed to support the IOGCC’s mission of promoting the conservation and efficient recovery of domestic oil and natural gas resources while protecting health, safety, and the environment.
